Hey, guys! I'm Comic Auzi, co-creator of a cartoon on YouTube called Pharnus and Friends. Here is where I have the occasional post about things going on in the cartoon and just reblog other posts that I like.
I don’t count sailor moon or dbz cuz you watched those as a kid and assumed they were cartoons.
I mean when you got “into” anime fully aware of what it was and actually became immmmmmersed in this bizarre weeb culture.
It’s usually death note.
Trigun, but I did go through the Light-is-right phase until I watched Code Geass.
Outlier.
Although I guess it was naruto or Bleach for some people.
I got you all beat. The Original Big 3. Akira, Vampire Hunter D, Ninja Scroll. And those when I was a child of 9. Death Note was WAYYYYY down the line.
I watched and finished Mirai Nikki before I even started Death Note
I’ve never even watched death note. I saw Naruto as a kid and didn’t know what anme was back then so by the logic of this post that doesn’t count so that makes FMA (from 2003) my starter.
My starter anime was… SAO.
I’m so embarrassed for you.
I can beat this. This first real anima/manga pair was enforced from a “friend”.
Loveless.
Does Zoids count?
If not then yugioh and Saiyuki were my first anime series (Fruits Basket was my first manga.) I never watched Naruto, DBZ, or Death Note
death note came out when i was older…and wasn’t really into anime as much anymore so my starters were like yu yu hakusho and rurouni kenshin and stuff i guess
my starter animes were saber marionette J, and cyberteam akihabara (they made realize sakura cardcaptor, dragon ball z, and pokemon were also anime)
I’d have to say mine were Ranma ½ and Inuyasha. I didn’t watch Death Note until I was like 12 cause I thought it was stupid and overrated, and I didn’t watch Dragon Ball until I was 16 for the same reason lol
My starter anime was Super Dimensional Fortress Macross and Gatchaman. From the 80’s. I’m old ok.
Gundam 00 was my first, but I think Death Note was one of my early ones as well; probably within my first 10
TBH placing death note as THE starter anime really dates this post.
My “starter” anime when I realized what it was was probably one of like, Inuyasha, FMA, Big O, Ruroni Kenshin, Yu Yu Hakusho, or Gundam Wing.
My starter anime was Sherlock Hound.
I rediscovered it when I was introduced to Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Yu Yu Hakusho and Rurouni Kenshin.
I’m that outlier: I acknowledge that watching Voltron and Sailor Moon, I didn’t know they were anime. But I did learn what it was before I watched Lodoss Wars. That was the first time I knew I was watching ‘anime’.
Does Pokemon fall under the “You assumed they were just cartoons” category?
In that case my starter anime was actually Azumanga Diaoh.
